Movement, listening, taking turns, and the confidence to join in. Our youngest students learn through short activities and plenty of encouragement.

CURRENT TRAINING CYCLE

WHAT WE’RE WORKING ON.

Kicks

Stationary front kicks

Stand in one spot. Get your body ready, lift your knee, kick gently, and bring your foot back with control.

Form

Big 7

Practice the Big 7 in the order your instructor shows you. Take one move at a time.

Stick combination

Three count, one side

Learn the three-count pattern on one side. Listen for the count and move with it.

Self-defense

Same-side wrist release

In class, use the other hand as shown, step back, and pull toward the thumb side to release the grip.

BEYOND THE BELT · THIS CYCLE’S LIFE SKILL

Pause. Get ready. Then go.

We are practicing a little pause before we move or speak. A ready body and a listening moment help little learners make a thoughtful choice.

AT HOME, TRY SAYING

“Let’s pause. Can you show me your ready body?”

NOTICE THE LITTLE WINS

Notice a child stopping to listen, getting ready before a move, or trying again calmly.

A LITTLE PRACTICE AT HOME.

Choose three little practice moments each week, about 2-3 minutes each. A grown-up can read and cheer you on. Repeat A, B and C so all four class skills get a turn. Use open hands for the pattern and tell your grown-up what you remember.

  1. A · KICKS + FORMShow a gentle stationary front kick, then one Big 7 move you have learned. Pause and get your body ready before each try.
  2. B · STICK COUNTS + SELF-DEFENSESay the three counts and trace your one-side stick pattern with open hands. This helps your body remember the moves. Tell your grown-up the name of your wrist release and picture the steps together.
  3. C · REVIEW + BEYOND THE BELTTry your front kick and Big 7 move again. Then practice pausing to listen to one everyday direction. Celebrate your little listening win.

Use only movements your instructor has assigned for home. Keep practice gentle, with clear space and the supervision they recommend. If a solo version has not been taught, count, name, or picture the steps and bring your question to class. Leave sticks, targets, partner grabs, contact, locks, chokes, jumping, and spinning for supervised class. Never use a household object in place of training equipment.

YOUR NEXT STEP.

Ask your instructor which skills are your priority right now and what readiness looks like for your next milestone. We’ll help you understand the expectations and recognize the progress you’re making.
